this is cwismis?

today; or yesterday i guess, was christmas. it's supposed to be all family filled and joyous but i never get into that spirit. my cousins and friends have become so much more my family than my immediate one that has gradually become more and more disconnected so i never feel the need to get into the family traditions that don't really exist for us anymore. it sounds more depressing than it is though- i get bummed around the holidays but as soon as my friends are back from their own family traditions i'm back to my cheery self. in fact, the other night was one of the best coming-home-for-the-holidays-everyone-partying-together gatherings i could've asked for.

several of my pals who go to school out west are in what they call, green bandit productions. it's a snowboarding/skateboarding/skiing collaborative of guys that travel and film for fun. their latest full-length dvd, rutland, features the likes of niko cioffi, tyler lynch, lucas magoon, ryan allaire, matt douglass, and many more. they've got some serious talent and the dvd is definitely worth checking out if you haven't already. but anywhoooo, in case you missed the premiere party tuesday night, here are some photos i captured during the event. sadly, all the ones that i am in are terribly unfocused because my autofocus is officially broken and my drunk friends are not as well-equipped with manually focusing photos. but i love them anyways. xoxo. maggie.

limbo.

so here i find myself, sitting in the davis center at uvm, being a drop out, and not studying for the finals that i don't have. i should be heading home, but no, i stay and socialize with the friends i miss so dearly. soon enough i'll be living up here, but really? it can't come soon enough.

this week has been filled with work, friends, champagne, snow and kisses- a great combination, if you ask me, but tomorrow is where it all culminates. my best friend will finally be landing in our home state and it will be the first time i've seen her in the fourth months since she flew off to the city of mormons, the city of the great salt lake. today, i feel like i'm just passing the time  until her arrival. i have been looking forward to this for weeks and i am assured having her home is going to be just as amazing as i am hoping. as much as i love all of my guy friends that i've been hanging out with so often, i miss having my endless girl chatter and laughter and blahalsgfskjdg everrythiinng! i just can't wait to be reunited with shannon and annabel.

this is going to be a fantastic end to 2009 and ringing in the new year will be equally as tremendous. until then, it is necessary that you watch this cover of while my guitar gently weeps, performed by the likes of tom petty, jeff lynne, prince, and george harrison's son, dhani harrison.

prince has a crazy solo and this rendition of the song blows my mind. not to mention dhani harrison is almost an exact look-alike of his father who i am madly in love with. dhani, if you're out there, i'm definitely in an eligible age range.

jersey sheets.

today was a good day. i worked at the salon, accomplished all of the errands i'd been putting off, and found two uncashed paychecks and about fifty dollars on top of that. with all of my free time in the evening, i went to the store and bought a new nose stud [trying out a square diamond], picked up some fresh and amazing jersey sheets that are a warm toffee/goldish colour, and met up with alicia and rachelle for a small dinner at the back home cafe. yummm. what a lovely day- and what a lovely way to end it in my fresh sheets and most comfortable bed. now all i need to complete this is someone to share the bed with.. oh well. xoxo. maggie.

soon we'll be found.

yesterday, alicia and i took some photos out in chittenden. it was a successful shoot but, on our exit from the woods, we realized my car was stranded and out of gas.. and let me tell you, chittenden is one of the last places you want to run out of gas. the acreage to person human ratio is unreal. we only had to wait for a while before, luckily, the nicest man stumbled upon our unfortunate situation. within twenty minutes had driven home and back and supplied me with a quarter tank of gas- and during that twenty minutes, alicia and i had a mini carphotoshoot. check it out.

and then thankfully we saw the lovely stranger coming towards us before he could see us being absolutely ridiculous in my car. hah. back to the amazing niceness though.. those are the people that will have the best karma. i love random acts of kindness and i can not wait to make this man the best thank you note/gift. but anyways, heeere are some of my favourites from our acctual photoshoot that i took of my beeeautiful friend, alicia rose perez.

alicia in turn took a few of me.

mmmmmm. xoxo. maggie.

the start of something.

i've been obsessed with this song lately and i thought i would end up with a new band to enjoy the music of, but don't let this song fool you. voxtrot is decent but definitely not a band i could ever deem as a favourite. their consistency of good songs is definitely not where it should be. but anywhoooo, this song at least, is nothing short of amazing.

this time of night i could call you up
i'd get angry with athletic ease,
break common laws in twos and threes.
if i die clutching your photograph
don't call me boring, it's just cuz i like you.
take me on back.. take me back
to the place where i could feel your heart.
is this the end or just the start of
something really, really beautiful
wrapped up and disguised as something really, really ugly?

won't you..
come by and see me, i'm a love letter away
i'd break your name before i'd say, "i really love you, love you,"
i don't care if you saw, I watched every inch of film
flash across your roman features,
and i loved it, loved it; i don't care if..

you think i'm eager to shut your eyes, well
i'm sorry-everybody knows
you can't break me with your gutter prose
would you believe it, she sent me a letter,
the ring, it nearly weighs her down,
she's got another boy, oh boy.
steady your ears.. read my lips.
poetry is not a luxury, it's how i'll break this home
and when i'm really ill, won't you cradle me?
man is not a noble animal, but maybe woman is, remember.

i heard you..

inside your room, you said, "you never really live
until your back's against the wall," oh did you really mean it?
i never break my gaze, if just to see this scar
remain reflected in your eyes
i think it's time to go home.

oh, tell me your thoughts,
tell me your thoughts on liberty,
see there's a place where i sink to sleeping.
oh, my vote is as red as my blood
will you join me for another round?
i haven't had the chance to speak yet

god speed..

i break the law once every week to feel your touch,
what's a book to you in bed, do you feel better, older?
this just makes me ill, your name is dripping from my pen
still you're not around to curse,
i'll drop the gun now, i'm still under you...

marianne, let the ghosts sleep tonight.
marianne, let the ghosts sleep, just shut your eyes and burn the past away.

voxtrot - the start of something

flurries.

i just got back from a weekend in burlington. it was really great. i started off the weekend on friday by going to see josh ritter with walker and annabel. having annabel come down from montreal and stay a night with me was awesome and it's always lovely to see walker and chatt over coffee.

half way through crying over josh ritter and his amazingness, i exited and caught the very tail end of the uvm "yam jam" on central campus. the post-concert/railjam events of the night didn't supply much craziness at night but we made the best of it and hung around with good company before heading off to dreamland.

saturday was a good time too, involving bowdslides, photoz, wendy's and cuddlez. check out some of the shots from the boyyz skating in essex. sweet. xoxo. maggie.
